Technology
What is an Electronic Nebulizer ?
An electronic nebulizer is a device that uses electricity to generate a fine aerosol mist (micro-droplets). It is a generic terms that can includes different technologies : piezoelectric nebulizer (ultrasonic and vibrating mesh), electro-static or turning disks.
What is a Vibrating Mesh Nebulizer ?
Among electronic nebulizers, our technology belongs to the family of vibrating mesh nebulizers.
The operating principle is based on a piezoelectric ceramic coupled with a micro-perforated membrane (or mesh) with thousands of holes measuring a few microns in diameter. The membrane vibrates with a low amplitude (5-10 µm) but at an ultrasonic frequency (50-180 kHz). When a liquid comes into contact with the membrane, the water is “extruded” through the micro-holes by a “sieve” effect aided by surface tension.
The result is a fine, calibrated aerosol.
What is the Difference between Micronice and other vibrating mesh or ultrasonic nebulizers ?
Tekceleo’s Micronice technology is unique. It uses the same working principle as a vibrating mesh nebulizer, but using a unique stainless steel 316L transducer.
To put it simply, it works by using ultrasonic vibration (> 50 kHz) from a micro-perforated membrane on a liquid. This vibration is created by a vertical wave and is amplified by the fact that the membrane is attached to a metal transducer rather than directly to a piezoelectric ceramic (unlike other vibrating membrane technologies). This is why Micronice technology can be described as an “amplified vibrating membrane nebulizer.”
It has two advantages: very high energy efficiency (< 2W per nozzle) and very high resistance to all liquids, including corrosive ones (because the piezoelectric part is completely isolated from the liquid).
What's the differences between the P&S T45 and the P&S 360 range of Micronice Nebulizers ?
– The P&S T45 is a gravity-fed design with a 10 mL integrated tank. Due to Due to its ease of use for repeated applications of small, precise samples without dead volume it is most commonly used in laboratory for simply producing bioaerosol. It’s plug and play and has a washable 10 mL integrated tank.
Application and Use Cases
What are typical applications with our Micronice electronic nebulizers ?
Due to its very low energy consumption, precision, compactness and robustness our amplified vibrating mesh technology is used in various industry : Disinfection/decontamination, humidification, food preservation, aeroponics and controlled environment agriculture, lab research, coating, and more.
What are the uses of Tekceleo nebulizers in pharmaceutical and medical applications (H₂O₂ decontamination, environmental control, aerosol therapy)?
Our nozzles are particularly effective in pharmaceutical environments. They are compact, robust, and easy to use.
They can be directly integrated into work equipment such as PSMs or isolators to create automated aerosol decontamination systems.
They can also be used for precise humidity control in sampling and production areas.
You can consult our Use Case regarding a Return on Experience of a BSC manufacturer that has integrated Micronice technology as an automated decontamination feature in its range of BSC : Consult Automated Decontamination Use Case.
How are your nebulizers used in the agro-industry (preservation, humidification, treatment)?
Our nebulizers are particularly easy to integrate into fixed humidification and automated post-treatment systems.
Our nozzles are already installed for humidifying fruit and vegetable shelves and in casings for meat and fish. They are very compact and produce a precise mist that is invisible and inaudible.
For more information and specifications you can consult our Use Case featuring a return on experience of one of our customer : Food Preservation Humidification Use Case
What industrial applications (testing, sensors, materials, processes) use your nebulizers?
The precision of our Micronice technology allows for uses where it is the key : microbiological samples, calibration of optical sensors, coating is the field of micro-electronics.
They are also used in jet printing or 3D printing process in order to aerosolize precisely binder liquid.
Are your nozzles suitable for aeroponics systems ?
Yes, our nozzles are implemented in these type of equipment due to their compactness, robustness (low maintenance) and low energy consumption (which is key for aeroponics farms). Our 50 µm nozzle is particularly suited for this application, as this droplet size has been proven to be the best for nutrient absorption by roots while maintaining a good mix of CO2 and oxygen.
Practical aspects
Does vibrating mesh technology work with an air or gas supply?
A vibrating mesh nebulizer does not require compressed air or gas. It uses high-frequency vibration of a piezo element to atomize liquid directly into a fine mist.
As a result, our technology does not mix, heat or warm the liquid in its atomization process.
What droplet sizes do you offer ?
Each nozzle is calibrated for a specific droplet size. Standard options are 05 µm, 08 µm, 12 µm, 20 µm and 50 µm. Other sizes can be provided on demand (up to 100 µm).
Is it possible to control the Flowrate and the Droplet size ?
Yes, one of the main advantage of our amplified vibrating mesh technology is that it allows for a precise flowrate control.
The nozzle can be tuned to a specific rate as a proportion of its nominal flowrate.
The droplet size is decided by the size of the microperforated holes of the nozzle. We have standard size of 05, 08, 12, 20 and 50 µm. Specific droplet sizes can be made upon request.
Is the liquid preserved without any alteration ?
Yes, the fact that no heating, pressure or electricity is involved preserves the liquid without any alteration. Our technology only nebulizes the liquid mechanically and smoothly, ensuring that its properties remain intact.
Which liquids are compatible with Micronice nebulizer ?
Our Micronice aerosol generators can nebulize water-based solutions, saline, pharmaceutical drugs, corrosive disinfectants like hydrogen peroxide, and many other liquids, making them suitable for medical research, aerosol studies, humidification, decontamination…
The uniqueness of our technology is that only Stainless Steel 316 and is in contact with the liquid, making it suitable for a wide range of solution. For any specific liquid or custom formulation, contact our team to confirm compatibility.
What is the lifetime of Micronice nebulizer/nozzle ?
Durability depends on liquid type, cleaning, and maintenance. With proper use, more than 10 000 hours.
Our technology is very robust with RO water, and being prooved to work in continuous operation for more than 2 years (> 18 000 hours).
What is the cost of a Micronice vibrating mesh nebulizer or a complete solution ?
Prices depend on chosen device (T45 or 360), number of nozzles, and order volume. Contact us for a personalized quotation.
